TORONTO - Movie-goers can soon use their smartphone to buy tickets for a flick at a Cineplex Entertainment theatre.
Starting Wednesday, apps for the BlackBerry and iPhone can search for nearby theatres, call up movie schedules and purchase tickets.
The app will also show theatres and showtimes from other theatre companies, although tickets can only be bought for Cineplex screenings.
Purchases can be made with either a credit card or by using a PayPal account. Consumers then have the option of picking up their tickets at the theatre or printing them at home.
There is no service charge for mobile ticket buying.
The app will also have movie news and trailers.
