Jean Charest is urging a resolution of the crisis in Ottawa as quickly as possible, saying political instability and economic instability don't mix well together.

The Quebec premier says he doesn't want to get involved in the ongoing debate, but hopes everyone gets to work quickly on economic questions.

Charest stresses what's important is that first ministers go ahead with a working meeting in January to discuss the economy.
