OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has updated a warning issued Tuesday about stores selling meat that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The CFIA is warning the public not to consume ready-to-eat roast beef sold at certain deli counters in Ontario.

The affected ready-to-eat roast beef was sold in variable weight deli-style plastic bags at the following stores in Ontario.

Lamantia's Country Market in Lindsay between Oct 8 and 21; Fisher Foodland in Cobourg between Oct. 8 and 17; Campbell Metcalfe Variety in Metcalfe between Oct. 2 and 21; and Loeb Perth in Perth between Oct. 2 and 21.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.

The stores are voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace.

The original roast beef was manufactured by Les Salaisons Desco Inc. and has tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
