ESTEVAN, Sask. -- RCMP have concluded that a 13-year-old Saskatchewan girl who vanished eight years ago was murdered.

Courtney Struble of Estevan was last seen just after midnight on July 9, 2004, in the vicinity of Highway 39 and Woodlawn Avenue.

The RCMP's historical case unit case took over the case from Estevan police on April 21, 2011, and on Monday announced they have come to the conclusion Courtney was the victim of foul play.

Sgt. Robin Zentner says that in a missing person case, you usually look to see if there is any activity with personal items such as health cards or financial or banking records.

Zentner says in Courtney's case, there has been nothing.

He says a 13-year-old couldn't survive all this time without some movement, plus he says the RCMP has received pertinent information they can't yet make public.
