Quebec’s anti-corruption squad made waves across the province on Thursday morning, arresting politicians, political aides and people with ties to the construction industry on a range of charges including fraud and gangsterism.
Former Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt, who was given the nickname ‘King of Laval’ during his six terms as mayor of the city outside Montreal, is among those taken into custody.
