Winnipeg police say they are grasping at straws as they investigate the disappearance of a local woman.

Thelma Krull, who is 57, was last seen on Saturday morning when she left her home to go for a hike before picking up her grandson's birthday cake.

An intensive search has yielded little information, other than the woman's glasses that were found Tuesday near a community centre.

Police say the homicide unit has taken the lead on the case, although it continues to be treated as a missing person file.

Investigators have released a photograph of two people cycling in the area on the morning of the disappearance.

Const. Eric Hofley says the two are not considered suspects, but may be able to provide information if they saw Krull.
