Family and friends scoured parts of Winnipeg on Monday after a 57-year-old grandmother went missing over the weekend after heading out on a hike.

Winnipeg police have also put out a call for assistance as the search continues for Thelma Krull, who was last seen leaving her house early Saturday morning in the Harborview South area of Winnipeg.

The avid walker was going for a hike, and was supposed to meet her husband at a Canadian Tire store on Regent Avenue West a few hours later. She never arrived.

Krull’s daughter Lisa Besser told CTV Winnipeg that her mother was also going to pick up a cake for her grandson’s birthday party later on Saturday, which is "something she would not have missed."

"She's very healthy, very active and there's no medical concern," Besser told CTV Winnipeg on Monday.

Since Krull's disappearance, family and friends have been searching for clues in green spaces across the city, including the trails the administrative assistant is known to frequent.

"We know that something's happened, so we just need to find her," Besser said.

Susan Dell, Krull's co-worker, was one of the dozens of friends and family who joined the search on Monday.

Dell was desperate for her friend's return and was thankful that others were contributing.

"I'm really, really glad other people are helping because at this point we need as many people as we can," said Dell.

"Thelma come home, we just want you home," she added.

Krull had been training to do a week-long hike this summer. Another one of her co-workers, Connie Muscat, said Krull may have veered off a path to challenge herself.

"She really was proud of herself and this was a big journey for her, getting out every day and back to health," Muscat said.

Krull’s family and friends decided to re-trace her steps starting from her home.

Armed with posters and flyers, the group is set on finding any information on Krull’s disappearance.

An emotional Muscat said Krull is usually the one who worries about others.

"We know she’d be out here, doing way more than we’re managing to do at this point if she was in our shoes," Muscat said.

As ground search-and-rescue efforts concentrate on forested areas, Winnipeg police are asking residents to search their property, just in case Krull suffered a medical emergency and tried to get to help.

They’re also asking that residents or businesses with surveillance cameras review their footage of the early morning hours of Saturday. Searchers believe Krull could have passed through several areas including, East Kildonan, Elmwood and Transcona.

"Anything you can find that would help us centralize our search and give us any kind of clue," said Besser.

"We're running out of options here."

If footage of Krull is observed, residents or business owners are asked to contact Winnipeg police’s Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Besser is also asking anyone who finds an iPhone 4S to bring it to police. She believes that her mother may have dropped hers and the phone could offer clues.

Krull is described as a causcasian female, 5-foot-4, 170 pounds with short, dyed blonde hair with a purple streak. She is believed to be wearing black capri-style pants, a reddish-orange shirt, dark shoes or possibly hiking boots, and glasses.
