The gunman who shot and killed a reservist standing guard at the National War Memorial before storming Parliament Hill took a public tour of Centre Block almost three weeks before the attack, CTV News has confirmed.

Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was captured on security video taking the tour, which included the Hall of Honour -- the very place where he was killed.

A large knife was found next to his body, suggesting to investigators that he went to the Hill with an intent to behead someone.

Zehaf-Bibeau, 32, shot Cpl. Nathan Cirillo on the morning of Oct. 22 as the reservist from Hamilton, Ont., performed sentry duty at the Memorial. Zehaf-Bibeau then rushed into Centre Block, where he engaged in a gunfight with RCMP and Parliament Hill security.
