Toronto police say they have assembled a team to search for a man wanted in connection to a violent robbery who escaped a local courthouse and was chased by police on foot.

CTV obtained exclusive video taken from inside a bus that captured the foot chase.

Jumar Lennon, 24, was inside the Metro West Etobicoke Courthouse on Tuesday when he jumped out of the prisoner’s box and took off running down Finch Avenue West.

Toronto police chased after him but didn’t manage to catch him.

Police told CTV Toronto that they believe Lennon was involved in a violent robbery and assault on Wednesday evening at a convenience store located in a plaza just 7 kilometres from the courthouse.

“We are considering him dangerous at this point,” Toronto Police Const. Craig Brister told CTV Toronto.

Lennon, who still remains at large, was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white tank top. He is described as five-foot-eight, 141 pounds with short black afro-style hair, a small chin beard, a moustache, and brown eyes.

Police say if members of the public spot Lennon, they should not approach him and call 911 immediately.
