University of Lethbridge nursing students hosted a wellness fair at St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary School. The wellness fair highlighted important ways for younger kids to stay healthy. Some of the key talking points were proper teeth brushing, the importance of sleep and opening up about mental-health struggles. It wasn’t just a learning opportunity for the kids, however. The nursing students were able to learn the best ways to communicate with different age groups. The wellness fair was part of a long-standing collaboration between the university and the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division. “I think it’s really beneficial for our students,” said Melissa Campanella, U of L nursing instructor. The nursing students spent much of their semester at the school helping to educate students about healthy living.
