Record breaking temperatures coming to southern Alberta

The winds will be gusty for the next 24 hours, then they will let up, but the warmth will stick around.

Up to 80 kilometre an hour gusts in Calgary for St. Patrick’s Day, with 100 kilometre an hour winds expected to the south and west of the city. Those winds will send temperatures soaring, with Calgary starting the day at 10 C and getting up to at least 15 C in the afternoon.

The winds will ease on Wednesday, but the temperatures will get even warmer as a ridge of high pressure moves in. The middle of the work week warm and bright, and there could be some record-breaking temperatures in southern Alberta over the next few days.

The jet stream will slump south on the weekend and bring some clouds and mixed precipitation. Temperatures are expected drop back to normal by then.
