A Calgary probation officer is accused of accessing confidential information. Police have charged 25-year-old Navjot Dhillon with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer. She is an Alberta Correctional Services probation officer. The charges against her follow the seizures of her electronic devices in late April. “Evidence found through examination determined unauthorized information had been accessed,” police said Wednesday in a release. Police were first tapped to investigate in January. Insp. Nicole Barrett says maintaining public trust “requires that allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated.” “We are committed to protecting sensitive information and ensuring individuals who abuse positions of trust are held accountable,” Barrett said. Dhillon is next set to appear in court Aug. 19. The investigation into this incident continues. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
