Alberta RCMP say a paddleboarder was rescued by officers at Ghost Lake on the weekend. Members of the Cochrane RCMP detachment were conducting water patrols on Saturday when they discovered a paddleboarder who had fallen into the cold water and was struggling to stay afloat. Mounties were able to respond almost instantly, saving them. RCMP are using the incident remind people about the risks of engaging in recreational activities on the water and the importance of being prepared. “Safety on our waterways is a shared responsibility,” says Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier. “A simple oversight, such as failing to wear or carry the required safety equipment, can quickly become a life-threatening situation. We encourage all lake users to take the necessary precautions before heading out on the water.”
