YMCA Calgary and the Calgary Public Library are proposing a new joint-use recreation and library facility in Calgary’s West District. Announced in a news release on Tuesday, the proposed building is designed to serve more than 41,000 households in the community. The release says Truman has committed donated land located on Broadcast Avenue S.W., across from Radio Park, to make the new space possible. When complete, the proposed building will include recreation amenities, a library and an outdoor community space. Calgary city council has already approved an initial $3 million to fund the project’s design and planning, which will allow the project to be ready for construction in 2027. A news release says construction will depend on investment from all three levels of government and philanthropic partners.
