A Montréal man has been charged with human trafficking as part of an investigation aided by Calgary police. Members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ (ALERT) human trafficking unit arrested 33-year-old Neylson Benoit-Ancion in Calgary on March 12. In a Friday news release, ALERT said two victims had been identified, but there may be more. They’re asking any other victims to come forward to police. “As in the case with most of our investigations, our perpetrator appeared to have been traveling across Canada exploiting girls and woman for sex,” said Staff Sgt. Matt Pumphrey, ALERT. “For investigators, it becomes a challenge of reaching victims who may have left the area, but their information is valuable and we want to hear from them.” Anyone with information about this case is asked to call local police or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS. Police say the investigation was launched thanks to a tip submitted through Crime Stoppers. Benoit-Ancion is charged with trafficking a person, obtaining material benefit from sexual services, procuring a person for sexual services and advertising a person for sexual services. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
