Hitmen rally for 3 in the 3rd period to defeat Rebels at Saddledome

The Hitmen in action Friday night against the Red Deer Rebels at the Saddledome.

The Calgary Hitmen stopped a penalty shot early, then rallied late to top the Red Deer Rebels 4-1 Friday at the Saddledome.

After Andrei Molgachev opened the scoring late in the first period, goaltender Eric Tu turned back a penalty shot from Kohen Lodge.

The Rebels did tie it up in the second, getting a goal from Noah Milford that sent the game into the third period knotted at a goal apiece.

In the third period, Kale Dach scored 14 seconds in to give the Hitmen a one-goal lead.

Then Brandon Gorzynski scored to make it 3-1, and Keaton Jundt scored to make it 4-1.

Calgary outshot Red Deer 41-22 on the night.

The two clubs do it again Saturday night, but this time in Red Deer.

Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
