About 200 people experienced what it’s like to be homeless for a few hours Saturday. It was the Coldest Night of the Year walk, a fundraiser organized by Wood’s Homes. The walk started and ended at their Inglewood Opportunity Club. Participants raised almost $65,000 to help Wood’s Homes provide services to their clients such as recovery and crisis counselling and employment support. Wood’s Homes Foundation director Bryan Goehringer said the underlying message to all its clients is don’t give up. “There’s an opportunity awaiting every single person who comes through our doors,” Goehringer said. “Wood’s Homes has a very special place here in Inglewood called the opportunity hub, and it really is a model of hope that every door is the right door, whether you’re facing homelessness or looking for addictions recovery or just skills training and employment, there’s a place here for you.” Last year, Wood’s Homes helped 2,200 people.
