Flames face Oilers in final pre-season tune-up

The Calgary Flames wrap up their pre-season schedule Saturday night with a matchup against the Edmonton Oilers—their final dress rehearsal before the NHL regular season begins next week.

The Battle of Alberta meeting gives both teams one last chance to fine-tune line combinations and evaluate roster decisions, with several players still competing for opening-night spots.

The Oilers enter the game with momentum after a strong pre-season run, while Calgary has posted a mixed slate, including a win over Vancouver and losses to Seattle.

The Flames have split usage between veteran NHL regulars and AHL call-ups, giving younger players extended opportunities to impress.

Friday’s matchup also carries early-season rivalry weight, with both clubs meeting multiple times throughout the year in what is expected to be another tightly contested Pacific Division race.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Calgary will open their season on home ice on Oct. 1 against the Seattle Kraken.
