A cyclist suffered what police believed to be life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a minivan in south Calgary on Thursday. Police say officers were called to the scene at 71 Avenue and Macleod Trail, south of Chinook Centre, at 1:38 p.m. They say a man in his 30s riding the bike was believed to have critical injuries and was taken to hospital. The driver of the van is uninjured and remained at the scene. The southbound lanes of Macleod Trail were closed between 69 Avenue and 73 Avenue but have since reopened.
