It’s about that time of year again in Coaldale, Alta., as the southern Alberta town readies itself for another Winter Fest. A release on Monday morning announced the start of the town’s holiday festivities, with the Country Christmas Night of Lights on Nov. 27. This year’s Winter Fest will be the town’s third. It’ll be the town’s 26th Country Christmas Night of Lights. Monday’s release said the longstanding community tradition will “welcome families downtown for an evening of holiday cheer.” The highlight will be the Night of Lights parade. Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn says Winter Fest is becoming an event that “brings families, friends and neighbours together to celebrate the season.” “Residents and visitors have told me many times that coming to Coaldale during Winter Fest feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie,” the mayor said in Monday’s release. “That’s a wonderful compliment to everyone who helps make this time of year so special in our community.” The town also notes its Glow Skate event is coming up on Dec. 12. The town’s Civic Plaza Winter Series will also run through December and January. More information about Winter Fest and its various events can be found online at http://coaldalewinterfest.ca.
