Cloudy, windy and a chance of thunderstorms for Calgary on Tuesday

Calgary will see a brief disruption in the sun and above seasonal temperatures on Tuesday as a shift in the jetstream brings unsettled weather to the city this afternoon.

The morning will start off a bit breezy but there will be some opportunity for some sunshine to peak through the clouds.

A trough in the jetstream starts to dig into southern Alberta later this afternoon and that will usher in more clouds and northwesterly winds at 30 to 50 km/h and a close to seasonal high of 13 C.

It also will bring showers and the chance for some brief non-severe thunderstorms over Calgary right around the supper hour.

The wet weather will be short-lived though, by the time we get into Wednesday an upper ridge of high pressure will start to push in and really settle over Alberta from Thursday to Saturday.

This ridge will bring gorgeous sunny conditions, relatively calm winds and lots of heat with highs of 26 C on Friday and Saturday.

So keep the raincoat handy today, but have the shorts on standby for the weekend!
