CFD battles grassfire at Douglas Fir Trail pathway

The cause of five separate grass fires near the Douglas Fir Trail in Calgary is under investigation.

The Calgary Fire Department was called to extinguish grassfires in a forested area near the Bow River on Monday.

Officials say the fires were reported at about 10 a.m. along the railway lines near the beginning of Douglas Fir Trail.

How the blaze began is still unknown, but the CFD said multiple fires burned along the train tracks.

Several pathways were shut down as a result, but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fires is currently under investigation.
