A boil-water advisory remains in effect for some southwest Calgary residents after an incident involving a water main. City officials say it’s not that water main—the Bearspaw South feeder main is fine. The city also says the Rockyview General Hospital is not impacted. The incident happened this past Friday. “City crews began repairs on a water main that supports the community of Eagle Ridge and Heritage Park,” the city said in a release issued Monday. “During the repairs, they experienced an unanticipated depressurization of the pipe and could not guarantee the water quality. “As a precaution, Alberta Health Services ordered a boil-water advisory.” More information about the boil-water advisory is available online at calgary.ca/boilwater. Information is also available at myhealth.alberta.ca/Alberta/Pages/Boil-water-advisory-how-to-use-water-safely.aspx. In general, the city advises bringing tap water to a rolling boil for one full minute prior to consuming it. The city says water wagons are being made available. While repairs are ongoing, the city says traffic will be impacted. Delays are likely and could be significant, the city says. The city is advising motorists to plan a different route if possible and to be careful of detour signage if not. “Two northbound and two southbound lanes on 14th Street S.W. between 75 Avenue S.W. and Heritage Drive. S.W. will be closed until further notice, leaving one lane open in each direction,” the city said. “Depending on the condition of the pipe, we may need to adjust the lane closures to complete the repair. “This is a challenging repair and will take some time to complete.”
