A Canadian petition calling on Kraft Heinz to bring back Bravo pasta sauce has collected nearly 1,500 signatures from disappointed fans of the discontinued product.

The Change.org petition is asking Kraft, which was purchased by H.J. Heinz Co. in 2015 to create one of the world’s biggest food companies, to rethink its decision to discontinue Bravo sauce.

“I have recipes that only work with Bravo that have been handed down 5 generations.” Bill Currie of Welland, Ont., who started the petition, wrote.

The sauce was one of several Heinz products made at a Leamington, Ont. plant.

A Kraft Heinz spokesperson told CTVNews.ca in an email that the Bravo pasta sauce was discontinued in March “due to declining demand.”

Av Maharaj said the move will have no impact on jobs at the Leamington plant.

“In fact, we have brought more business to the Leamington facility by moving production of other sauces in there,” he said.

On a  Facebook fan page for the sauce, dozens of people have expressed their disappointment, saying they’ve been using Bravo sauce for years and are upset to see it disappear from store shelves.
