Transport Canada has announced an update for an earlier recall that involved more than 40,000 units of Volvo’s newer cars and SUVs in Canada. The newest recall, issued Friday, states that certain vehicles could be privy to a software problem that can cause the rearview camera images to not display when the transmission shifts into reverse. “Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair,” the recall notice said. The recall has listed models belonging to the automotive company that may be affected by the issue, including: According to Transport Canada, the issue can affect a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle when backing up if the rearview camera image does not display. “This could increase the risk of a crash,” the notice said. Volvo will notify the owners of the affected vehicles by mail and send a “wireless over-the-air software update” to those vehicles to update their software, Transport Canada said.
