Nearly 70,000 toaster ovens added to expanded recall due to burn risk

Nearly 1.4 million Oster French Door Countertop Ovens are being recalled in Canada and the U.S. over a burn hazard.

More than 66,000 additional toaster ovens are being added to an expanded recall due to spring-loaded doors “unexpectedly closing” and burning some users.

Another model of the Oster French Door Toaster Countertop Ovens is being recalled Monday following a previous recall issued on Sept. 25. The newly recalled toaster oven can be identified by its model number, TSSTTVFDDG-033.

The manufacturer reported 170,560 affected toaster ovens sold in Canada, along with 1.29 million in the U.S., between January 2015 and July 2025.

Users are advised to contact Sunbeam Products, who will issue a free repair kit along with installation instructions.

The recall was jointly issued by Sunbeam Products Inc., the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.

The previously recalled ovens can be identified by a model number found on the back of the oven or on the original packaging, the brand can be identified by an “Oster” engraving on the bottom right of the oven. The affected model numbers are:

• TSSTTVFDXL
• TSSTTVFDDGDS
• TSSTTVFDDG-033
• TSSTTVFDXLPP-033
• TSSTTVFDDAF-033

Although no burns linked to the units have been reported in Canada, two second-degree burns have been reported in the U.S., along with 95 other burn injuries.

To address the issue, Oster is providing a “clip-on device that helps keep the oven doors securely open during use.”

Customers are advised to immediately stop using the products and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. through Oster’s website. It is illegal to sell, give away or redistribute recalled products in Canada.
