TORONTO - Ottawa folksinger Bruce Cockburn was among the multiple winners at the Canadian Folk Music Awards on Sunday night.

The 66-year-old claimed contemporary album of the year for his 30th record "Small Source of Comfort," while also claiming the trophy for solo artist of the year.

Quebec trio Genticorum also nabbed two awards, winning for ensemble of the year and traditional album of the year for "Nagez Rameurs."

And Dave Gunning of Pictou County, N.S., was the evening's third multiple winner, earning accolades for traditional singer of the year and new/emerging artist of the year.

Saskatoon's Suzie Vinnick won contemporary singer of the year, Toronto's the Creaking Tree String Quartet took instrumental group of the year and Toronto trio the Good Lovelies claimed the award for vocal group of the year.

Other winners included Toronto's Minor Empire, banjoist Jayme Stone and Lynn Miles of Sweetsburg, Que.

The awards were handed out at a gala at Toronto's Isabel Bayder Theatre.
