Up to 10 cm of snow possible on Boxing Day

Simcoe County will likely have a white Christmas and an even whiter Boxing Day, as it is one of the many regions in southern and central Ontario that are under a special weather statement for significant snow on Friday.

According to Environment Canada, up to ten centimetres of snow is possible from Friday afternoon into Friday evening.

The special weather statement spans from Orillia and Midland to Toronto and from the Bruce Peninsula to the Belleville area.

The weather agency says there is still some uncertainty about the track of the low-pressure system, but it is expected to move west to east through Friday afternoon and evening.

Drivers are advised to use caution as travel could be difficult due to accumulating snow.
