Two men facing accessory to murder charges in Barrie homeless encampment investigation

Two men have now been charged as accessories after-the-fact to murder, in the homeless encampment murder case Barrie police have described as its largest investigation in history.

Dave Dumont, 47, and Eddy Guitard, 45, appeared in separate Barrie courtrooms this week accused of helping 53-year-old Robert Ladouceur, who is accused of first and second-degree murder in the slaying of two men at an Anne Street homeless encampment last year.

Both men remain in custody and are accused of helping Ladouceur, who is alleged to have dismembered the remains of 45-year-old William ‘Blake’ Robinson and 41-year-old David Kyle Cheesequay.

Police believe Robinson was killed in January 2025 and Cheesequay in late July, according to court documents obtained by CTV News.

Police said, at the time of Ladouceur’s arrest in August 2025, the murders were “not random” and the accused and victims knew one another after living together “at some point in time” in the encampment.

Also known as ‘Tattoo Rob,’ Ladouceur was charged with two counts of murder following the discovery of dismembered remains in Barrie, and Huntsville. Police revealed evidence led investigators to another scene in north Simcoe.

Ladouceur has been behind bars since his arrest and initially retained defence lawyer Eginhart Ehlers, who has since stepped aside due to a conflict in the case. He is now in the process of hiring defence lawyer Anthony Bryant.

Ladouceur faces a total of 33 charges including committing indignity to a dead body along with drug trafficking, weapons counts, and fleeing police.

Police did not say how Ladouceur knew the men or whether drugs were involved. Investigators did not reveal a motive but confirmed Ladouceur has a lengthy criminal record including acts of violence.

Ladouceur and Dumont are scheduled to return to court next week, while Guitard returns in mid-April. The allegations against the accused have not been tested in court.
