Barrie is just 17 days away from turning up the volume on summer with the kickoff of the Troubadour Festival Summer Concert Series. On Wednesday, CTV Barrie, Pure Country 106, BOUNCE 104.1 and the Downtown Barrie BIA spotlight the artists warming up the crowd, unveiling a stacked roster of Canadian opening acts set to bring even more energy to Meridian Place. Each supporting artist will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., setting the tone for a special night of live music before the headliner. Opening acts revealed On Sat., June 6, indie-folk rockers Sam Polley and the Old Tomorrows open for country heavyweights The Road Hammers. Formed in downtown Toronto, the band draws inspiration from the sounds of the ’50s and ’60s, promising a unique blend of boogie and groove-filled tunes. On Sat., July 25, Barrie gets a taste of alternative rock when Stuck on Planet Earth hits the stage ahead of The Watchmen. The Vaughan-based trio prides itself on an edgy, moody and alternative sound. Then on Sat., Aug. 15, Toronto indie band Zeus, joins the lineup before headliner Bahamas, bringing a retro-inspired sound packed with sunny power-pop hooks. Full-day experience unlocked The festival is more than just an evening spectacle. Organizers are growing the event into an all-day celebration with expanded activations, vendor experiences and immersive programming across the city’s downtown. New additions to the series include the Troubadour Street Stage, featuring emerging performers and interactive entertainment beginning at noon, along with the debut of the Troubadour Treehouse for young families. Mystery finale headliner The series closes on Sat., Sept. 12, with a mystery headliner and opening act. Organizers say they promise a finale well worth the wait. “Troubadour Festival continues to grow into something truly special for our community,” says Chas Hay of Hey Bear Productions. “With the addition of these incredible opening acts and a full-day festival format, we’re creating an experience that goes far beyond the stage.” Presented by Paul Sadlon Motors, the Troubadour Festival is building on its recognition as one of Ontario’s fastest-growing music events.
