A major Highway 400 off-ramp in Barrie is closed for the next month starting Tuesday. The Highway 400 northbound off-ramp to eastbound Dunlop Street is now closed for 30 days. Looking to get around the closure? The northbound off-ramp to westbound Dunlop Street East will stay open. For access to Dunlop Street, motorists heading northbound on Highway 400 will be redirected to use the Essa Road off-ramp instead and then follow the detour signs that go along Essa Road and Anne Street. The City of Barrie advises drivers to give themselves extra time and follow the detour route. The closure is due to the Dunlop Street bridge replacement project, part of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Highway 400 project. That project includes constructing a new bridge crossing and widening the interchange at Dunlop Street over Highway 400. The City says this will support the future expansion of Highway 400.
