A 28-year-old woman has been charged with arson following a police investigation into a fire at a residence in Orillia on Friday. Firefighters were called to Barrie Road early Friday morning for a fire that police say had been deliberately started in the hallway outside a door. The fire was quickly extinguished, and deemed suspicious, prompting a call to the OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office to investigate. “The damage was contained to the vestibule of the house,” the fire chief said. No injuries were reported. Police say through the investigation they were able to identify a suspect, who was arrested by early afternoon at a West Street North address. The woman, of no fixed address, is charged with arson - disregard for human life and failing to comply with a probation order. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
