Gone are the days of having to pay big bucks for a dress or suit you’ll only wear once. Maybe you’ve had a wedding or special occasion and spent a fortune on your outfit. Well now, you don’t need to, thanks to a library program. Just in time for the summer months, Bracebridge Public Library’s The Celebration Closet is a pop-up shop of sorts filled with formal wear that you can take for free. The event will offer up dresses, suits, shoes and accessories providing something for everyone and any kind of occasion. To ensure the right fit, there will be changerooms available for people to try on outfits. In addition to the shopping experience, the library will provide refreshments and giveaways. The upcycling program was so popular in recent years that it’s had to expand it into multiple days. “This is always one of our most popular programs,” says Amy Miners, Children and Youth Services Librarian. “Making it three days makes it more accessible to those who need formal wear for their next big event. We want to make sure everyone in our community can step into life’s special moments with confidence, dignity and a sense of belonging.” If you’d like to donate, the library is accepting donations of new or nearly new formal wear with the exception of wedding dresses. Donations should be free of stains, rips or tears. Formerly Say Yes To Your Dress, The Celebration Closet is taking place on Fri., May 1 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sat., May 2 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sun., May 3 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
