Two young men are facing a number of charges after a trip to the LBCO. On Thursday, staff from Innisfil LCBO called South Simcoe police to inform them of two suspicious men in the parking lot. According to store staff, the two men and their vehicle matched the description of a duo suspected of a theft at an LCBO in Barrie. Police say staff watched as one of the men entered the store and put eight bottles of alcohol into a basket. He then proceeded toward the checkout area but exited the store without paying for his items, police say. Officers were on scene by the time he was outside and according to police, the man abandoned his basket and attempted to flee on foot, but he was arrested. The second man was still in the Chevrolet Camaro that the suspects arrived in. According to South Simcoe Police, Peel Regional Police had previously reported the vehicle stolen. Police say when officers approached the Camaro, the driver attempted to flee by reversing quickly but ended up driving into a police car that was parked behind it. No injures were reported as a result of the incident. The two men now face theft charges and a number of possession of property obtained by crime charges, including a charge for the car, a licence plate and the liquor stolen from the Barrie LCBO that were found in the Camaro. One of the men also faces a charge of dangerous operation and flight from a peace offer.
