A Barrie man is in hospital after he was shot during a home invasion in the city’s east end.

Police say the incident happened on Gunn Street, near Newton Street on Monday morning. A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials put both Oakley Park Public School and Barrie North Collegiate under a hold and secure, but that has since been lifted. The Simcoe County District School Board says all staff and students are safe.

Police say they are looking for two suspects, who may be armed with a gun.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 5’8”. He was seen wearing dark clothes with a hood.

The other suspect is described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 6’. He was seen wearing a grey sweater with a dark stripe.

Police believe this was a targeted incident and that there's no threat to the general public.

Officers canvassed the area and ask that anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
