OFM investigates house fire in Alliston, woman hospitalized

Fire officials say when crews arrived, they found the house engulphed in flames.

Firefighters were called to an early-morning house fire in Alliston on Thursday.

Emergency crews responded to the residence on Renaissance Point around 8:25 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with heavy flames and smoke and quickly launched a defensive attack to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was eventually extinguished, but officials say it was “well involved.”

One woman was taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. There is no word on the extent of her injuries.

Town of New Tecumseth’s Fire Chief Dan P. Heydon told CTV News that the fire also caused damage to two neighbouring homes.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has dispatched an investigator to the home to determine the cause.

No further details have been released at this time.
