A section of central Barrie remains cordoned off by police as an investigation that began Wednesday night continues into Friday. Details are scarce surrounding the large police presence, but here’s what we know about the three-day long investigation: Wednesday night, cordoned off Yellow police tape sanctioned off Victoria Street to Anne Street as officers secured the scene at the homeless encampment. Given the sheer volume of the area and the terrain, the investigation seems to require time. Thursday, police flood the area Investigations continued throughout the day. Police cars were spotted in the area. Officials told CTV News on Thursday, “There is an ongoing police investigation” said Peter Leon with the Barrie Police Service. “We will provide additional information when the investigation permits.” Members with the Busby Centre informed CTV News that they have been in the area assisting the community. There are approximately 40 residents that live in this sanctioned zone. Friday, investigation remains ongoing Barrie Police confirmed that the the investigation is still ongoing. The area remains contained, cordoned off and will be until further notice. Few details have been released at this time. CTV News will provide updates as they become available.
