Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) removed four drivers from the roads last week who were all charged with impaired driving-related offences. On July 25 at around 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched to Highway 10 in Mono following a report of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 10 and conducted a traffic stop. They charged a 42-year-old Shelburne man driving while impaired and failing to stop for a red light. The next day at around 3:40 a.m., police were sent to the Amaranth-East Luther Townline in Grand Valley following a report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle in a cornfield. A 25-year-old Hillsburgh woman faces impaired driving charges, as well as dangerous operation of a vehicle. Later that night, police were conducting traffic enforcement along Highway 89 in Mulmur when a vehicle caught the attention of an officer. A traffic stop was conducted, and during the interaction with the driver, police charged a 44-year-old Keswick man with refusal to comply with demand and speeding up to 49 kilometres-per-hour over the speed limit. On Wednesday, at around 11 p.m., police on patrol stopped a car in Mono on Highway 10. After speaking with the driver, police laid stunt charges against the 42-year-old Dundalk man, as well as driving charges, excessive speed, plate not visible, operating without a valid permit, operate unsafe vehicle and impaired driving charges. The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date to answer to the charges. In each incident, the driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded in accordance with provincial legislation.
