Environment Canada warns of up to 20 cm of snow on the way

Environment Canada is warning the public of 10 to 20 centimetres of snowfall blanketing the region over the next 24 hours, as a low-pressure system moves into southern Ontario.

The weather centre has issued a yellow snow squall warning, citing heavy and local blowing snow with reduced visibility at times across Simcoe County and Muskoka.

The snow is expected to start Wednesday evening and last until Thursday afternoon before tapering off Thursday evening.

A drop in temperature will also come with the snow which Environment Canada says will make for cold wind chills.

It also warns the combination of snowy weather and cold temperatures could make for a slow and messy morning and evening commutes on Thursday.

The weather centre is alerting motorists of quickly changing and deteriorating weather conditions and to allow for extra time.
