After temperatures got down to near 0 C, many residents of Barrie awoke to a layer of frost on their vehicles, plants and more on Tuesday morning. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a frost warning for Barrie, Collingwood and Huntsville. When temperatures drop to near or below freezing, plants and crops can be at risk of being damaged, the climate agency says. Residents are advised to cover cold-sensitive plants, crops, and trees. Fortunately, ECCC says residents can anticipate a daytime high of 14 C and Tuesday’s overnight low is expected to be a much warmer 8 C. Despite some cloud cover expected in the late evening, residents can expect a mainly sunny day with a UV index of four.
