Chris Paul (Rainbows) probably won’t be wearing their King Charles III Coronation Medal for their advocacy for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth when they visit the Coulson Family Bracebridge Library. No will they tune in to their 400,000 social media followers. But they will bring their special new book, Guinea Pigs Don’t Wear Pants, which was released earlier this year. “It’s a joyful celebration of gender expression, individuality, and the freedom to be yourself,” Paul said of their debut picture book that they also illustrated. “(It) celebrates the freedom to express yourself and the beauty of being exactly who you are,” they said. “Libraries are places where everyone in the community should see themselves reflected,” said Amy Miners, children and youth services librarian. “Chris Paul Rainbows has helped to make room on the shelf for everyone’s story, and we’re excited to share their message with our community,” Miners said. The Author Talk is a drop-in event on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Coulson Family Bracebridge Library on Salmon Avenue. “We believe stories have the power to bring people of all backgrounds together to inspire curiosity and foster understanding,” said Crystal Bergstrome, CEO and chief librarian. “We welcome readers of all ages to join us in making Paul feel as welcome in our community as they have made so many feel welcome in theirs through their advocacy,” she said.
