For one driver, his persistence to drive his vehicle despite notable damages resulted in some trouble for him with Barrie Police. Police say they were called to the area of Yonge and Big Bay Point Road around 11 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a “heavily damaged” vehicle being driven in the area. In addition to riding on a bare rim, police claim parts were “falling off” from the car and onto the roadway. Officers conducted a traffic stop that led to an impaired driving investigation. According to police, test results showed the driver, a 54-year-old Scarborough man, had a blood alcohol concentration level three times over the legal limit. He was charged by police with two counts of impaired operation, had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven.
