Blue Mountain Resort has unveiled its opening date for the 2026-27 winter season, giving skiers and snowboarders a first glimpse of what lies ahead. The popular Ontario ski destination is scheduled to open Thursday, Dec. 10, marking its 85th winter season. Resort staff shared the news in a social media post last week, inviting both longtime visitors and newcomers to hit the hills this winter. “Whether you learned to ski here decades ago, you’re bringing your kids for their first lesson, or you’ve never clicked into a binding, this is the season to be part of it,” Blue Mountain Resort shared over social media. Crews have spent months preparing for the upcoming season, with improvements including new snowmaking pipe, a lift safety upgrade and more opportunities for visitors to learn and enjoy winter activities. Among the new offerings is the Night Ski Club. While the opening date has been confirmed, the resort says terrain details will be released later this year. The announcement comes after a memorable 2025-26 winter season that brought plenty of snow to the region. According to previous reporting by CTV News, the resort received 297 centimetres of natural snow last winter. Blue Mountain also recorded more than 850 hours of snowmaking and opened on Dec. 9, 2025, two days ahead of its originally scheduled opening date. This year’s planned opening falls just one day later than last season’s opening. The resort’s 2025-26 season continued well into spring, giving skiers and snowboarders over 122 days on the mountain. With another winter on the horizon, Blue Mountain is also reminding visitors that early bird pricing for its 5x7 and 5x7 XL season passes is available until Thursday.
