Two men are facing charges after a traffic stop in Shelburne went awry, according to provincial police. Dufferin County OPP say on the evening of Oct. 19, officers observed a speeding vehicle on County Road 124. Police say officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not stop on the side of the road and instead continued to a nearby parking lot. According to OPP, the driver then left his vehicle and entered a fast-food restaurant while the passenger stayed in the car. Officers then entered the restaurant and located the driver. OPP say both driver and passenger were uncooperative during the impaired driving investigation. The driver, a 27-year-old Welland, Ont. man, faces charges of obstructing a peace officer, failure to comply with demand, speeding, obstructing a plate, driving without a valid plate, failure to stop for police and driving with cannabis readily available. The passenger, a 30-year-old Ottawa man, is charged with obstructing a peace officer. The accused had his licence suspended and vehicle impounded. Both are due back in court in Orangeville at a later date.
