VANCOUVER - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public about a sockeye salmon product that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Vancouver-based Classic Smokehouse Inc. is voluntarily recalling its classic Canadian wild sockeye lox trim that was packaged between May 2 and July 28 in 454-gram wrappers.

The product has been distributed in British Columbia but the CFIA says no illnesses have been reported.

The food inspection agency says food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled, but consumption may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness.

The affected products bear UPC number 3000550008256.
