VANCOUVER - There's some welcome news for almost 1,500 residents who were forced from their homes by a wildfire north of Kelowna, British Columbia.

Officials say an evacuation order that took effect 12 days ago will be lifted this afternoon.

The Terrace Mountain fire, which covers more than 90 square kilometres, is 75 per cent contained.

Another 630 Fintry-area residents who were forced from their homes by that blaze were given the all-clear yesterday.

Despite that, all 21-hundred residents have been told to be ready to leave again at a moment's notice.

That would leave about 18 Fintry-area residents still out of their homes.

Officials won't estimate when the remaining evacuees might be allowed to return to their houses.

The Terrace Mountain fire was discovered three and-a-half weeks ago, and is thought to have been started by humans.
