Jaguar has announced Canadian pricing for its new F-PACE SUV. The base model will start at roughly $50,000 when it goes on sale in Canada in spring 2016, the automaker announced at the vehicle’s unveiling at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto early February.

$53,900 will be the entry pricing for the 340-horsepower or 380-horsepower supercharged 3.0-litre V6 version of the truck, while the four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel to be made available later this year begins at $49,900.

Both versions of the gasoline V6 come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with a torque-on-demand all-wheel drive system, but only the top-line 380-horse F-PACE S can launch the performance SUV from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. That blistering fast acceleration is made possible in part by the vehicle’s light weight – one third of the components and parts in the F-PACE are made from Jaguar’s special aluminum-alloy – which also helps it get on up to a top speed of 250 km/h.

For buyers seeking out fuel efficiency rather than supercar performance, Jaguar will make available in Canada a more modest 180-horsepower Ingenium four-cylinder diesel later in 2016.
