The 2017 Infiniti Q60 coupe made its world debut January 11 at the Detroit auto show. The new car’s muscular styling reflects Infiniti’s attractive design language and the new coupe is powered by three engine choices, including the company’s new 400-horsepower, twin-turbo V6.

The design of the Q60 is a marked departure from the outgoing model, as this new all-wheel drive sports coupe sits lower and wider than its predecessor. With its modern, muscular, and premium design, the Q60 looks perfectly sporting and luxurious.

Visually, the Q60 is both athletic and unmistakably posh at the same time, and according to Infiniti Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa, “The design carries an elegance that contrasts and gives tonality to its powerful character, expressed through flexed muscles and tension suggested in the sculpture. The Q60 surfaces exude a sense of fluid movement.” The cabin is designed to be even quieter than before and all Q60 models include Infiniti’s Active Noise Cancellation technology, which is also integrated into the optional, high-end Bose sound system. Standard equipment is a faster infotainment unit that includes control for navigation and audio systems, but also climate and seating settings.

The Q60 is fitted with Infiniti’s rear-biased Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, with 100% of the available torque going to the rear wheels in the standard setting and up to 50% of torque transferring to the front axle in low traction conditions. While the 400-horsepower engine will get all the attention, the same twin-turbo V6 is available in a 300-horsepower output specification, and the entry level engine is a 208-horsepower, two-litre, turbocharged four cylinder that makes a promising 258 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission is Infiniti’s multi-mode seven-speed automatic with the company’s Adaptive Shift Control that optimizes gear selection based on driving conditions.

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 sports coupe will be available late summer 2016.
