To help launch its new performance-oriented ‘N’ sub-brand at the Frankfurt Motor show this week, Hyundai unveiled the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo (see photos).

While most entries into the Vision program of Playstation’s popular Gran Turismo franchise are linked to a real-world or future production model, the 2025 Vision Gran Turismo looks nothing like anything Hyundai has ever done before. Rather, the N 2025 looks ready to take on the 24 Hours of Le Mans prototype class.

Hyundai says that it took inspiration for the car’s design from jet fighters and says it was made to look as if it were floating. The powertrain for the concept video game car will be a hydrogen fuel cell system capable of producing a mammoth 871 horsepower.

The new ‘N’ sub-brand can probably be thought of as similar to Volkswagen’s GTI or Ford’s ST offerings and should help Hyundai attract more performance-minded buyers.

“By revealing this exciting high performance sub-brand N to our customers, we’re challenging expectations of the Hyundai Motor brand,” said Albert Biermann, Head of Performance Development & High Performance Vehicle Division with Hyundai.

Hyundai also says that future ‘N’ cars will also get upgraded features such as new powertrains and lightweight materials derived from Hyundai Motor’s World Rally Championship (WRC) participation, along with improved handling and aerodynamics.
