The Prince Edward Island government plans to spend $1.6 billion on a new hospital, elementary schools, CT scanners, bridges and roads over the next five years. The major infrastructure announcement was part of the provincial government’s 2026-2027 capital budget, which is estimated to be $486 million in expenditures. The 2025-2026 estimated capital budget was $482 million. “This budget allows us to rise to today’s challenges while keeping our eye on the opportunities of the future,” said Minister of Finance Jill Burridge in a news release. “It is focused, practical, and grounded in what Islanders need most.
